Welcome to the July edition of TA Talk.
Whilst we feel a tad dizzy with all the activity at ATA HQ, we are super excited about all that is about to happen.
We take great pleasure in reading and sorting the Australian Teacher Aide of the Year award nominations in preparation for our independent panelists' expert eyes. We are also preparing for Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week, 28th August - 1 September, an important celebration and acknowledgement of education support staff, which includes the announcement of the 2023 Australian Teacher Aide of the Year and the Australian Teacher Aide Team of the Year.
But that's not all. We are also in the process of seeking some final feedback on the expectations for the Australian Standards for Paraprofessional Educators in Schools, our most ambitious project yet! This will be followed by trials of the standards in our pilot schools. We anticipate we will be publishing the Standards in early 2024, setting a new standard in education! Watch this space.
All the while, we are making a significant social impact, and our individual members and member schools are helping us with this mission. At the time of writing, we are proud to say that we have made 1,563 impacts to the education and wellbeing of students in Australia and around the world. You can learn more about this achievement on Our Impact page.
The next issue of TA Talk will be particularly exciting as we announce our Australian Teacher Aide of the Year award winners. Stay tuned! Warm regards Stella and Mandy |

We say this every year, but again, the calibre of nomination is extremely high, and we anticipate our panelists will have a difficult job ahead! On 17th August we will be publishing our finalists and highly commended nominees, prior to announcing the 2023 winners on Thursday 31st August.

| The publication of the Australian Standards for Paraprofessional Educators in Schools (ASPES) will mark a significant step forward in recognising and valuing the role of paraprofessional educators, and provide schools with a roadmap to excellence.
In a preview of our recent webinar, Unpacking the Career Stages and Expectations in the Australian Standards for Paraprofessional Educators, Leanne Hillman, from Bolster Education, shared her perspectives on how the Standards will benefit teachers and paraprofessional educators, to work together more effectively and support their professional growth. |
