The following resources will assist education support staff, such as teacher aides, teaching assistants, and learning support officers, develop the practical skills and knowledge to confidently support students with numeracy, including problem solving, and using mathematics vocabulary.
Numeracy at school refers to students’ capacity to use mathematics across all areas of learning, and in a wide number of everyday situations, and has been identified in the Australian Curriculum, as one of the general capabilities needed to successfully live and work in the 21century.
