Pathways to Teaching for Teacher Aides
The recording of this webinar is available in the Professional Development library, under Paraprofessional Educator Role.
Many universities around Australia are creating pathways to teaching to address acute teacher shortages.
In this webinar, we have invited Dr Elizabeth Murray to talk about the pathways to teaching for teacher aides at Charles Sturt University. Dr Murray will provide an overview of the current state of play in the teacher education space, discuss a traineeship-type model to train future teachers, and explore the possibilities of upskilling teacher aides across Australia who wish to retrain as primary and secondary school teachers.
You will learn about the:
- Collaborative Teacher Aide Pathway developed by Charles Sturt University
- Grow Your Own Teacher Training program, Department of Education NSW
- Recognition of prior learning (RPL) given to teacher aides for their vocational qualifications or experience in schools for those who enter Initial Teacher Education (ITE) degrees.
Dr Murray will share some testimonials from students who are currently studying with Charles Sturt University, and case studies to exemplify the study options available. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions.
