The awards season makes this time of year super busy at ATA, and so the end of month has come quickly!
We have been enjoying reading all the wonderful award nominations submitted for Australian Teacher Aide of the Year. It is always an inspiring experience, and the professionalism and skill that we read of never ceases to amaze us! The writers are to be commended too, many finding creative and original ways to describe their teacher aides, including 'wellbeing thermometer', 'a steady rock in stormy seas', 'builder of brighter futures' and 'an engager of greatness'. We are getting closer to announcing our finalists on Thursday 18th August.
We are also working hard to ensure this year's Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week is the best ever. It is never too early to start preparing for Appreciation Week celebrations at school, and our dedicated web page is packed full of resources, special offers and a fun competition. Lastly, we listened to your feedback from our recent PD survey, and with exam time just around the corner for many, we think that our next live web event will be of great interest to teacher aides who help to modify student assessments. Our next issue of TA Talk will fall on the eve of Appreciation Week, which also means we will be just days away from announcing our Australian Teacher Aide of the Year individual and team winners. Exciting times! Warm regards

THE IMPACT OF YOUR RENEWAL GOES BEYOND THE CLASSROOM |
|
|
Throughout last year, when many staff and students were working and learning from home, we had an unprecedented number of schools join ATA.
Since then, schools have discovered the many benefits of online learning, and have told us that face to face training does not always work as it is difficult to bring a whole team together for scheduled professional development. Schools also like the fact that teams can plan PD to suit the professional needs of individual staff. |
|
|
When you renew your ATA membership, not only are you providing professional learning to your team, you are also helping to improve the health and education of children around the world. |

|
| The Industry Reference Group (IRG) is making great progress on the career stages for paraprofessional educators. The career stages will: -
describe the professional practice demonstrated at each of the four career stages
- provide benchmarks to recognise professional growth
- represent increasing levels of knowledge, practice, and professional engagement
In September, you can be part of this exciting work by joining us for our first public consultation, Have Your Say: Australian Standards for Paraprofessional Educators in Schools. |

| Strategies to Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students |
You may know, we had to postpone our planned July and August webinars, due to unforeseen circumstances.
The great news is that Clea North will return on 11 July next year to explore strategies to support the cultural identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students, and again in August to present strategies to build the cultural capacity at your school.
If you have already registered for these events, your registration will remain valid and you will be sent a link to join closer to the time. |
