Welcome to the June edition of TA Talk.
Thank you to the many school leaders around Australia who have taken the time to recognise a teacher aide or teacher aide team in the 2022 Australian Teacher Aide of the Year Awards. We also appreciate the many letters of support from Ministers of Education, and the Queensland Department of Education for sharing the awards information on their Facebook and media pages. As a result, we received a flood of nominations from Queensland schools. Remember that today is your last chance to submit a nomination in this year’s Awards.
With the significant changes to the cross-curriculum priority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures, we highly recommend that you mark our next live web event in your diaries. On Tuesday 12 July, Clea North, a proud Aboriginal woman and descendent of the Mithaka and Gunngari people of south-west Queensland, will share practical tools and strategies to support the cultural identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Last week, we had the great pleasure of meeting one of our customer service specialists, in person. Tamara who lives in Victoria, was visiting Queensland for a family celebration, and we caught up for lunch in beautiful Noosaville. If you have had the opportunity to meet Tamara virtually, or over the phone, we are sure you will agree that she is simply lovely! It is encouraging to receive so many requests for certificates for completed professional development, and this month we uploaded 230 certificates to members’ CPD Diaries. Well done!
Lastly, we wish you a wonderful end of semester break, and look forward to catching up next term. Warm regards Stella and Mandy |

| You may be aware that we reached a major milestone recently, when the national Industry Reference Group (IRG) met to ratify seven Draft Australian Standards for Paraprofessional Educators in Schools.
Currently, we are working on the career stages, and once we have a draft of these, we will publish them on our Standards page, where you can provide feedback.
Next, we will be writing the descriptors for each of the career stages and, as well as inviting schools to participate, we will be surveying our education community to make sure our work reflects the work of paraprofessional educators in Public, Catholic and Independent schools in Australia.
We would like to thank our Industry Reference Group for their ongoing commitment to developing the standards. |
