Welcome to the October edition of TA Talk. This is a very exciting month for us, and we have lots to celebrate!
On Wednesday 30th October, Australian Teacher Aide turned 9! This is a significant milestone and one we are extremely proud of. For nine years we have lived and breathed our mission to empower educators to help students succeed, and we are delighted with our ever-growing community whom we have the privilege to serve each day.
The much anticipated launch of the Australian Teaching Assistant Professional Standards (ATAPS) is another major milestone, scheduled for Thursday 28th November. This project has been 3 years in development, and we cannot express the gratitude we have for our industry reference group, our 'brains trust', who have provided expertise and inspiration on this highly ambitious journey of ours. We also acknowledge our whole team, as directly and indirectly, this has been a highly collaborative effort.
A few weeks ago, we met with our award winners, Kim Diegutis from Middlemount Community College, and the Education Assistant team from Ocean Reef Senior High School. These meetings are always a pleasure, and they keep us very connected with what excellence in learning support practice in schools really looks like. Our last live web event for 2024 is coming soon. If at all possible, make time to join us for part 2 of our series on Pathological Demand Avoidance. Our guest presenter Sarah Lovett brings a lot of energy to this topic, and she is highly knowledgeable with a lived experience.
Lastly, NOW is absolutely 'the time' to take a school membership with ATA if you haven't already. Don't leave it until January 2025, as there is some important preparation work to do prior to those student free days which you will want to use efficiently. By joining now, you will have time to attend a New School Orientation with one of our team, become familiar with the member portal, and create a PD plan.
For more details about all of the above, we invite you to read on :) Warm regards Stella and Mandy |
