Welcome to the August edition of TA Talk.
This month has been a whirlwind of activity! We published the Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week resources, announced the Australian Teacher Aide of the Year finalists and highly commended nominees, and worked solidly on finalising the Australian Teaching Assistant Professional Standards (ATAPS) which was presented to the ATAPS Industry Reference Group earlier this week for endorsement.
In the midst of all of this we received news that, for the third year running, we have been awarded Professional Development Service Provider of the Year. This award is based on feedback from schools, and we are excited and grateful for this recognition, again in 2024.
Next week is a very special time as it is Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week, and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge education support staff. Make sure you check out all the free resources we have available on our website. And, keep your eyes peeled next Thursday, as we will be announcing the 2024 Australian Teacher Aide of the Year, and the Australian Teacher Aide Team of the Year. We can't wait to share the news with you!
There is lots to look forward to! Warm regards Stella and Mandy |

UPDATE: AUSTRALIAN TEACHING ASSISTANT PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS |
|
|
Earlier this week, we hosted a pivotal meeting with the ATAPS Industry Reference Group (IRG) to share the final draft of the Australian Teaching Assistant Professional Standards (ATAPS), and seek endorsement of the competencies. Some valuable feedback was provided by the IRG which will be used to finalise the framework in the coming months.
Future plans include publication of the finalised Standards, the development of a comprehensive companion guide, and the commencement of workshops for school leadership. These initiatives are designed to support the successful implementation and utilisation of the ATAPS framework, ensuring that teaching assistants across Australia have the tools and guidance they need to excel in their roles.
